My family and I had dinner at Yokotaya Japanese restaurant located at the ground floor of the Fortune Avenue condominium (behind Carrefour in Taman Usahawan, Kepong) to celebrate yet another birthday. This is our first time at this restaurant. We sat on a small cushion on the wooden floor with our feet inside a “hole” below the table (the Tatami Room).
It was a Friday night and the restaurant was very, very busy. Business appears to be good. This restaurant is owned jointly by a Malaysian lady and a Japanese man who is the cook. His brother owns a similar restaurant in Japan.
We ordered the food, don’t know the names, but they are raw fish (shashimi), salad, tofu, yakitori chicken and beef, teppan beef and miso soup.
MeL and Ang Gu ordered their own peculiar dishes.
We downed all these dishes with rice and green tea. And to round up a great meal, we had the grapefruit and green tea ice cream.
The washroom is quite unique, you have water coming out from a bamboo instead of a pipe.
MeL said she likes the ambience but the food is not as nice as the ones she’s had in other Japanese restaurants. Ah Loot and I think the food at Rakuzen is better. I would say that overall, the food is delicious but the price is too steep. If you’d like to try out this restaurant check out their website .
