My former collegemate, SH asked me whether I’d like to join her for a “hot bed” treatment at the Ecoparadise Anti-Oxidant Rejuvenation Therapy Center and I said yes. SH got a free therapy voucher worth RM35 for each of us from somewhere. The Center is located at Sunway Mas Commercial Centre which is near to Dataran Prima and Aman Suria. We followed the map printed on the voucher to find our way there.
Our appointment was at 7.30 p.m and since we were quite early, we went looking for a kopitiam to have a light meal. SH had “har mein” while I had a lime juice drink as I had taken a light snack earlier.
After the meal, we registered ourselves at the Center (we had to leave our shoes at the entrance of the Center) and were given a locker key, towels and a blue kimono top with knee length shorts and a tumbler of drinking water. We changed into the “blue clothes” and kept our belongings in the locker and waited for our turn to enter the therapy chamber while sipping water from the tumbler.
I noticed that all around the Center there were signs pasted on the walls like “keep quiet/no talking/shhh” (at the corridor where the therapy chambers were), “keep the toilet clean” (in the toilet), “For shower only, if you want to urinate use the toilet” (in the shower room), “for staff only” (pasted on the door of a fridge in the waiting lounge). These signs tend to reflect the behaviour pattern of its clients – aiyoh, they think, hor we are all like dat one.
Anyway, when it was time for SH and I to start our therapy session of 45 minutes, we entered a dimly lit room with heated floor tiles where we were told to place our towels on the heated tiles and lie over it and rest our heads on a wooden “pillow”. The heat from the floor tiles was about 39°C for first timers. There was a clock on the wall in front of us together with “no handphone” and “no talking” signs. There was soft music and we were supposed to lie down and relax. The heat was tolerable, more pleasant than being in a sauna or steam bath. SH started to sweat profusely (I mean perspire. I was told only horses sweat, humans perspire) after ten minutes. I didn’t perspire much even until the end of the session.
After coming out of the hot room, we cooled down at the waiting lounge before taking a shower and going home with rosy cheeks!
This is my first experience at such a therapy center and if the health benefits as claimed are true, I wouldn’t mind going there again. From the one session I had, it’s hard to tell if it did any good to my health. But judging from the number of clients that walked into the therapy center, I would say that this new health concept will catch on in a big way.
Here are some information I gathered at the Ecoparadise Anti-oxidant Rejuvenation Therapy Center. They utilize cutting edge technologies newly developed by Japanese laboratories, and it is the first of its kind to be established outside of Japan.
Using breakthrough techniques, a process has been developed whereby a concentrated anti-oxidant solution derived from friendly micro-organisms is impregnated into building materials. Utilizing a unique construction process, the Center operates on a principle similar to a Roman caldarium, whereby hot water piped beneath the anti-oxidant treated tiles heats up the tiles and releases the anti-oxidants into the air above.
Visitors to the Center will be enfolded in an anti-oxidant rich environment, relaxing in a climate controlled chamber, where temperature (41°C – 43°C ) and humidity levels (20% – 40%) are monitored for the comfort of the visitors and they emerge from the Center rejuvenated and refreshed.

To market in terms of quality rather than price, and in order to differentiate accordingly, you need to follow the standard format of the 4 P’s marketing plan. That is, Price, Product, Place and Promotion – obviously you know the main attributes of the product, and the price, but for ‘place’ you should think about the type of people who are willing to pay over 4x price of competing product – whereas the cheap option may be sold where emphasis is on cost, your product will be suited to places/distributors where the customers will be willing to pay for quality.
